Daniel S.

Dan offers significant experience in reimbursement consulting and auditing healthcare entities, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC’s), Rural Health Centers, and agencies and facilities for the developmentally disabled. Having completed additional training in the area of not-for-profit finances, he is always up-to-date on regulations and practices in this arena.

A point of differentiation with the firm is that partner involvement in the work as evidenced by Dan’s active, hands-on approach to handling his client base. He has provided attestation services such as audits, internal control reviews, and accounting research. Due diligence for acquisition activity of healthcare entities, ranging from an individual long-term care facility to a major long-term care/hospital system, is another area of his expertise.

He is involved in the direct delivery or supervision of audit and healthcare consulting services including Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, third-party reimbursement, general ledger organizations and structure and development of internal controls, policies and procedures.

Working with trade associations representing long-term care facilities and FQHC’s and the developmentally disabled, he has identified reimbursement issues and analyzed them to develop strategies for improvement. He has represented healthcare providers in audits and appeals with the Provider Reimbursement Review Board and Indiana Family and Social Services Administration.

To assist clients in their long-term planning, Dan provides financial projections and analyses of filing and payment as well as research and recommendations regarding potential growth through mergers and/or acquisitions.

Wade E.

Wade’s career has focused exclusively in the healthcare arena. His expertise includes acquisition analysis; due diligence; cost report preparation for both critical access hospitals and prospective payment system hospitals; reimbursement planning and analysis of new federal regulations; wage index review and various other healthcare consulting engagements.

Before joining Bradley Associates in 1996, he worked for the State Board of Accounts in Indiana as a financial statement auditor. During his two-year tenure, Hill worked with hospital providers. He then transitioned to the Indiana Medicare Fiscal Intermediary where he performed audits on Medicare cost reports filed by Hospitals, home offices, mental health centers, home health agencies, and skilled nursing facilities.

His prior experience has enabled him to be effective in developing relationships with various fiscal intermediaries during audits of cost reports and planning stages of transactions, such as development and changes in home office cost reports and other unique transactions.

His consulting assignments have included financial modeling and projections relative to the development of acute and specialty hospitals. Working with some of the largest healthcare systems in the country, he has developed expertise in cost reports, reimbursements, and other related services for facilities in multiple states.

Tracy R.

Tracy has been in public practice since 1982 and with Bradley Associates since 1983. His career has focused on auditing and consulting assignments with hospitals, nursing facilities, agencies that serve the developmentally disabled and other healthcare entities. As a resource for many of the trade associations representing these healthcare businesses, he is widely regarded as the go-to person for accounting and finance issues in this industry.

Through extensive educational pursuits and detailed reviews of rate-setting parameters and regulations, Tracy is an industry leader in Medicaid reimbursement methodologies. He is able to provide invaluable insight into a variety of healthcare reimbursement scenarios and address even the most complex healthcare issues.

His experience and understanding of the business has prepared him to work not only with healthcare entities but also assist state authorities in any potential healthcare crisis. He has provided consulting services relative to provider tax, inter-governmental transfer and waiver issues and performed forensic accounting services in support of Medicare compliance investigations.

He provides a wide variety of consulting services to healthcare clients, including assistance with governmental funding, Medicare, Medicaid and other third-party reimbursement consultation, various states’ Medicaid cost reporting preparation, audit and review services, strategic planning, representation before regulatory authorities and cost studies.

Eric J.

Eric works as both an auditor and consultant to various healthcare providers, including hospitals, nursing facilities, group homes, and federally qualified health centers. His general areas of expertise include Medicare and Medicaid cost report preparation, including preparation of home office, prospective payment system hospitals, critical access hospitals, and other cost reports; Medicare and Medicaid appeals preparation; financial statement audits; HUD audits; strategic rate reviews for hospitals; and general healthcare consulting.

His experience also includes the following: preparation of Medicare and Medicaid cost reports for nursing facilities, group homes, federally qualified health centers, and other healthcare entities; reimbursement consulting relating to Medicare bad debts, State DSH and other reimbursement programs; assurance and attestation services including audits, compilations and other agreed upon procedures; and merger and acquisition assistance. Eric has significant experience in the preparation of annual hospital budgets; assisting hospitals in the calculation of third-party settlements and contractual allowances for month end close; and research and preparation of projections and financial statements for various healthcare entities. Eric has also assisted in the development and implementation of methodologies to implement strategic pricing strategies and estimate the effects on reimbursement by payor for various hospitals.

Dan

His general areas of expertise include Medicare and Medicaid cost report preparation, including preparation of home office, prospective payment system hospitals, critical access hospitals, and other cost reports; financial statement audits and other assurance services; fair market value analyses of physician compensation; mergers and acquisition consulting; valuations of various healthcare entities; and general healthcare consulting.

With his experience in the preparation of Medicare and Medicaid cost reports for hospitals, nursing facilities, group homes, home health agencies and other healthcare entities, Dan has developed relationships with various Medicare and Medicaid intermediaries across the country.  He also regularly provides strategies for healthcare providers in some of their more complex reporting requirements, including optimization of their home office cost report.  Dan is also heavily involved in the firm’s Medicare bad debt and uncompensated care service lines.    

Dan has also assisted in the development and the implementation of compliance programs for Stark, Anti-Kickback, Intermediate Sanctions and other regulations and statutes, including the development of programs to document compliance with hospital and nursing home fair market value payments to physicians.

Dan has also supported many healthcare organizations in interim accounting and reimbursement roles.  His experience has ranged from an interim controller for a critical access hospital to assisting the reimbursement department for a large multihospital health system.

Dawn M.

Dawn specializes in providing assurance reimbursement and consulting services to clients in the healthcare industry. She joined the firm in 1989.

Her experience working for the healthcare providers has been invaluable in building a practice that is responsive and knowledgeable in the ever-changing and challenging environment of healthcare finances. General areas of expertise include financial statement audit, Medicaid and Medicare cost report preparation, third-party audit assurance, and reimbursement consulting.

She has worked with nursing facilities, CRF/DD’s and ICF/MR’s throughout the country, including work with large national chain providers operating in multiple states.

Other specialized areas include financial assurance services such as audits, reviews, compilations, internal control and system testing, reporting, and accounting research as well as preparation of budgets, projections or reimbursement rates and valuation of receivables.

    CPA

Katy joined the firm in 2012 and has worked as both an auditor and consultant to various healthcare providers, including hospitals, nursing facilities, group homes and physician groups.

She has experience in the preparation of Medicare and Medicaid cost reports for healthcare entities including hospitals, nursing facilities, group homes, home health agencies, federally qualified health centers, and other healthcare entities operating in Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, and other multiple states. Her experience also extends to assisting with related reimbursement and consulting services such as assisting those entities with Medicare and Medicaid cost report additional information requests, audits, rate reviews, and general reimbursement planning.

In addition, Katy has experience with performing DOL limited scope audits of benefit plans, financial statement audits, other assurance services such as reviews and compilations, agreed-upon procedures, audits of Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) surveys, fair market value analyses of physician compensation, and the preparation of not-for-profit tax returns.

Kylie

Kylie joined the firm in 2007 and has worked as both an auditor and consultant to hospitals, nursing facilities, group homes, and other healthcare entities during her career.

Her general areas of expertise include Medicare and various states’ Medicaid cost report preparation, including but not limited to home offices, prospective payment system hospitals, critical access hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, and nursing homes; Medicare and Medicaid appeals preparation; financial projections and analysis; fair market value analyses of physician compensation; assurance and attestation services including audits, compilations and agreed upon procedures engagements; interim support and general healthcare consulting.

Kylie has also assisted multiple Government-owned ambulance providers in Indiana with filing the Indiana Medicaid Freestanding Ambulance Cost Report, resulting in significant supplemental Medicaid reimbursement being paid to the providers.

With her experience in the preparation of Medicare and Medicaid cost reports for hospitals, nursing facilities, and other healthcare entities, Kylie has developed relationships with various Medicare and Medicaid intermediaries across the country.

Jennifer D.

Jennifer joined the firm in 2003 and provides a variety of services to the firm’s healthcare clients, including hospitals, nursing facilities, federally qualified health centers, home health and hospice agencies, and physician groups.

Her specialties include financial statement audits, financial statement reviews, benefit plan audits, fair market valuations of physician compensation, agreed upon procedures, and tax consulting and preparation for a variety of entities including nonprofits, corporations, partnerships, and individuals. Other areas of service include Medicare and Medicaid cost report preparation for various entities including hospitals and nursing facilities operating in various states including Indiana, Missouri, and North Carolina.

In addition, she also helps manage the firm’s System of Quality Management and performs an annual internal review to ensure the firm’s attest services are being performed in accordance with the appropriate standards.

Derek

Derek joined the firm in 2014 and has worked as both an auditor and consultant to hospitals, nursing facilities, group homes, and other healthcare entities. 

His general areas of expertise include Medicare and Medicaid cost report preparation, including preparation of home office, prospective payment system hospitals, critical access hospitals, sole community hospitals, and other cost reports; financial statement audits and other assurance services; fair market value analyses of physician compensation; and general healthcare consulting. 

Derek helps lead the firm’s audit and assurance practice, which includes the firm’s most complex attestation engagements.  He also assists clients with implementing the new lease standard, also known as Accounting Standard Codification 842. 

Additionally, Derek has assisted hospitals during insurance contract negotiations and modeling changes in reimbursement structures.

Andrew

Andrew joined the firm in 2009 and has served as both an auditor and consultant to a wide range of healthcare providers, including hospitals, nursing facilities, and group homes. His core areas of expertise include S-10 Uncompensated Care reporting, Medicare bad debt preparation, Medicare cost report compilation, programming (SQL, VBA, Python, HTML, CSS, Bash, Shell, PowerShell), database management, and a variety of healthcare and information systems consulting projects.

Andrew’s technical background enables him to take on complex, data intensive engagements. He developed a comprehensive methodology and modeling framework for compiling patient level logs required for S-10 Uncompensated Care Cost and Medicare bad debt reporting. He also created the Bradley Contractual Model (BCM), a software application used by Critical Access Hospitals nationwide to calculate third party settlements and contractual allowances. In addition, Andrew frequently works directly within client information systems to extract detailed data for reporting and is familiar with numerous healthcare billing platforms.

Diane M.

Diane joined the firm in 2006 and her general areas of expertise include tax return preparation and consulting, benefit plan audits, Medicare and Medicaid cost report preparation, and various healthcare consulting projects. 

Her experience includes the following: preparation of Medicare and Medicaid cost reports for healthcare entities including hospitals, nursing facilities, group homes, home health agencies, hospices, federally qualified health centers, and other healthcare entities, and provides related reimbursement and consulting services such as assisting those entities with Medicare and Medicaid cost report audits. In addition, Diane manages the preparation of not-for-profit tax returns and of personal property tax returns and exemptions. She also performs DOL limited scope audits of benefit plans.

One of her areas of specialization is working with federally qualified health centers in filing budgeted cost reports to set their initial Medicaid rates.  She then helps federally qualified health centers identify whether they have had a change in the scope of their services.  If a change in scope is identified, Diane assists in the analysis to determine the potential increase to the Medicaid rate.

James
  • James Loveless
    CPA, CHFP

James joined the firm in 2016 and has extensive experience serving healthcare providers, including hospitals, nursing facilities, and federally qualified health centers, in both audit and consulting roles. His areas of expertise include Medicare and Medicaid cost report preparation and audit support, Medicare bad debt log preparation and review, and the preparation and audit of Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) surveys. He also brings strong technical skills in database management and programming, having developed and implemented customized applications across numerous consulting engagements.

In addition, James has served in interim reimbursement management roles for multiple health systems and has contributed to the development and implementation of a variety of healthcare and information systems consulting projects. He also provides financial assurance services to healthcare clients, including audits, reviews, compilations, and other agreed-upon procedures.

    CPA

Chris joined the firm in 2017 and has worked as both an auditor and consultant to hospitals, nursing facilities, group homes, and various other healthcare entities during his career. His areas of expertise include Medicare and Medicaid cost report preparation; assurance and attestation services, including audits, reviews, compilations, and agreed-upon procedures engagements; and general healthcare consulting.

Committed to attracting top talent, Chris leads many of the firm’s recruiting efforts, including campus recruiting. When hiring interns, his goal is to find individuals who have a strong foundation of technical skills, such as Microsoft Excel and Word, coupled with a reliable work ethic and positive attitude. Those skills provide the platform upon which interns and new staff can build specialized knowledge of the healthcare industry. Chris hires interns for spring, summer, and fall every year.
